The Black Book of Cairo’s Best Hidden Beauty Secrets

You know how you always ask everyone you know things like “Where do I get a good mani-pedi?” “Do you know of a place where I can get a decent Moroccan bath?” or the never-ending hairdresser questions: “Who does waves best?” “Do you know if Kriss is good with highlights?” “Should I go to Paul’s for a dip dye or do I rather go to Pace e Luce?” and “Whom do you recommend for a good trim at La Coupe?”

Well, you no longer have to poll and ask. We polled our readers about endless recommendations for hair, nails, body and even face and here are, by far, Cairo’s best-kept beauty secrets. This is a guide to, not only where to go to get your beauty needs met, but also whom to ask for to get the best service possible. Enjoy.

  1. Yomna El Shamy

    Hello
I want to ask please if there is a hard copy from this magazine and if yes? From where to buy it please?
    Thanks

  2. Hi Yomna,
Thanks a lot for your interest, but we don’t have a hard copy, no 🙂 We are an online magazine only, but please let us know if you would like to save any of our articles and we will send you a PDF of it on your email so you can save it or print it if you would like 🙂

  3. Helen

Nice and very helpfull informations. Thanks

  4. Sou

    Hello!

Could you please tell me where is Ne’mat Salon in Ard el Golf?

    Thanks,

  5. Cathy

New to Cairo, good information and so helpful. Well done. How often is it updated?

  6. Yara

    Where is n’emat salon located?

  7. great article. we will add them to our database to help others.

    thanks

  8. Thank you Cathy, we keep adding to it as we go along 🙂

  9. Nancy

This is super useful, thanks for compiling this list! Can you pls. send me a PDF of it? Also, it would be great if you could update it periodically to make sure it’s still accurate. For example, when I asked about Ziad at Pace E Luce (Heliopolis branch) they told me he is no longer with them. When I asked about Johnny, they told me he is based at the Maadi branch and only goes to the Heliopolis branch on Tuesdays. On a different note, it would be great if you could do an article regarding tipping. Living abroad much of the time, I am often lost on what is an appropriate tip for different services (hair, nails, eyebrows and other beauty services) Even though this is a very personal thing but it is embarrassing to ask others and useful to know what is the expected average range so you don’t come across as either cheap, nor ‘lo2tah’ 🙂

  10. Nadine El Sayed

Hi Nancy, we’re so glad you found this useful, and we will definitely update it soon, we just can’t do it all too often so in a couple of weeks we will update the list to make sure everything is accurate, we’re sorry about Ziad and Johnny! It’s actually a great idea about the tipping article, trust us, even the ones who’ve been living here all heir lives are flustered as to whether to tip a senior stylist, for instance, or the receptionist at a doctor’s office. We promise you an article on tipping very soon 🙂

  11. Noha

Can you please send me the pdf of this article?

    Thanks a lot!

  12. Nadine El Sayed

So sorry we don’t have a PDF of this but we will have it available in print soon and will let you know then.

  13. Marian

  16. Madiha

Do you know where I can get a hair system done? Like hair integration (hair topper/extension integrated with your own hair by being pulled through a mesh net), weave or some kind of system for hairloss or thin hair?

I’d be so upset if I can’t find that here. 🙁

  17. Nadine El Sayed

    Hi Madiha,
You can find hair extensions in most hairsaloons mentioned in this article 🙂

  18. Nadine El Sayed

    Hi Marian.
So sorry we only got back to your message now! We hope you had a great time at the wedding and found a good haidresser, please let us know if we could be of help.

  19. Reham

  20. Hey guys! Great article. Can you send me the pdf?

  21. Yasamin

    What about New Cairo?

  22. Alima

Hi. I am looking for a female stylist (someone who makes house calls) to come to my home in New Cairo and blow dry my naturally curly hair. I would go to the stylist however, I am not from Egypt so I don’t know my way around much, and I wear Niqab and do not feel comfortable in salons with men in them. Please if someone could help me or direct me to a salon that can style my hair. I’ve lived in Cairo for a year now and haven’t been able to have my hair done professionally

    Thanks so much,
    Alima

  23. mona essam

I want to add a recommendation about the brushing and updos by seif at toi beauty salon zamalek just more than amazing and trusted
    Coloring by kimi

  24. Sharia Amin

I”ve had great comments about Ahmed & Abdou hairdresser. But my advice to anyone who doesn’t want to have her hair burnt NOT to go there!!!!

I’be had simple highlights done, but Salah the employee there burnt most of the front parts of my hair!!!! I sent them several messages on their Facebook pages for more than 3 days ( pls check my comments on their page ) only today they called me to meet one of the owners at the Mohandesin branch, after meeting him & seeing the damage himself all ha said was he was sorry !!!! That’s it. So don’ be fooled from the pictures on his website, because the reality is something differen!!!!!

  25. Shahira Amin

Sorry the correct spelling is SHAHIRA AMIN

  26. Paige Bardin

I’m an Irish citizen, got my eyebrows tattooed back at home and looking to refill my brows again with the shade as mine. But also I’m here 5months and iv been to some beauty places here and I have to say iv been to some bad places that makes me think why some people have this job and so unprofessional. I want to get my brows done good. Not think bold brows like all the Egyptian women. Someone I can trust.

  27. Paige Bardin

    Not thick bold brows *

  28. Rana S

Is there any update on this page and can i have the pdf please

  29. Allen

I’d like to know if there are any salons in Cairo that use either Mizani or Design Essentials for sensitive scalp. I’m having such a hard time finding the right salon that can do a relaxer!
