8 Diet Tips: What’s Fact and What’s a Fad?

Full cream yoghurt is actually good for you. If you read the nutritional Label, you’ll find that the calcium and protein content are a lot higher than that of the low fat yoghurt. The difference in calories is almost negligible. On the other hand, the difference in calcium is not. Your bones will thank you later, especially after menopause.

2-Gluten free:

Gluten free products are Egypt’s newest trend and as great as it is to have all those products available, it’s not for everyone. Gluten free and weight loss do not go hand in hand and if you’re not suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBS) or Celiac Disease cutting gluten will not add anything to your health. Using those products will help with bloating and digestive problems if an individual is suffering from Celiac disease or autoimmune disease.

3-Your grains:

As sad as this is, white bread and wholegrain and brown bread contain the same calories. The choice of wholegrain will not help you shed those kilos but the type of fiber it provides is a lot healthier as it contains more selenium and potassium.

4-The HCG diet:

This has been Egypt’s fad diet for 2013.It combines a 500-calorie plan and human chronic gonadotrophin injections and drops to lose weight. This hormone is produced naturally during pregnancy. It is not FDA approved and it causes blood clots and depression

 5-Diet soda:

It is detrimental to the weight loss plan as it increases the sugar level in the blood and saturated fats and adds to the acidity of the blood, which in turns makes you crave more sugar. Hence, you get yourself in a vicious cycle.

6-The intake of less than 800 calories will help in the weight loss process:

The intake of less than 800 calories per day will slow down your metabolism to a point where you will stop losing weight. It is known as the very low calorie diet and it is banned worldwide.

7-Drinking H20 will add to the symptoms of water retention:

Drinking water will hydrate the cell itself and it’s needed to increase the metabolism. Water retention is associated with extra-cellular fluids.

8-Yoga:

Is great for a variety of reasons such as improving sleep, toning muscles and improving digestion. It isn’t optimal calorie burning, however. For that you need to invest in interval training, which is high to medium impact and helps in fat burning.
