Quinoa
November 24, 2013This is our new obsession at 19TwentyThree. Not only is quinoa a gluten-free substitute for rice, it’s also far healthier. Quinoa is an excellent source of magnesium, fiber, protein and vitaminB and it is sodium, cholesterol and saturated fat free.
It’s also very versatile, so you can add it to salads or use it in dishes and casseroles as a substitute for rice. The great news is, you can now buy it in Egypt through Nature Gifts Stores or Health Harvest. We have ordered it through Facebook from Ahmed Galal who grows it locally and it was cheaper than that bought in stores and of great quality (500 grams of imported quinoa costs LE55 while one kilo of the locally grown quinoa sold by Galal costs LE75).
