Scrub and Lotion Remedy for Ingrown Hairs

Scrub and Lotion Remedy for Ingrown Hairs

We’ve all been there; those nasty black visitors that seem to refuse to leave our skins and remain there to remind us of themselves and how unsuccessful any removal attempt on our behalf is.

They look nasty, grow in the most awkward spots and are rather stubborn: But they’re not impossible to fight.

To begin with; understand that ingrown hairs occur more frequently with shaving, followed by epilators and least frequently with waxing. The reason behind this is that thicker and curlier hairs (especially in the bikini area) can curl back into the skin as opposed to growing above the surface. This happens more when the hair is broken and not removed from the roots and can often cause pimples and red bumps.

Prevention:

– Make sure you remove the hair from its roots and avoid methods that end up breaking the hair.

– Exfoliate and take a warm shower right before hair removal to prep skin and open hair follicles.

– Use unscented, natural moisturizers after showering.

– Avoid tight clothing post-waxing or shaving and wear cotton panties.

If you suffer from ingrown hairs post-waxing, shaving or using electrical epilators, this scrub will do miracles for your skin.

Lotion to Prevent Ingrown Hairs:

– 1 cup of unscented body lotion (Vaseline does the trick well)

– 10 drops of lavender essential oil (we recommend using Nefertari or any other brand you know for sure is offering pure essential oils that are cold-compressed)

– 5 drops of thyme essential oil

Mix ingredients and apply daily, after showers and after hair removal

Scrub to Prevent Ingrown Hairs:

– 1 cup sugar

– 1/2 cup olive or jojoba oil

– 20 drops of lavender oil

Mix well and apply in circular motion on wet skin.

Do you mean vaseline the line of body lotions? Or vaseline petrolum jelly?

  2. Hi Samar, no we meant the petroleum jelly 🙂
