Looking after your Bag
May 28, 2013Our reader, May Taher, asked us for tips on how to take care of her bags; how to store and clean them to prolong their life. We, of course, have to comply to our dear readers demands, so we went on a quest to find the nits and grits of purse care and share it with you.
You can buy a luxurious bag and spend a little fortune on it only to find it going out of shape, scratched and scraped a few months later. If you want to keep your bags in their best shape, storage and cleaning are key.
Storage
– Avoid hanging them since this will eventually distort their shape on the long run.
– Try to fill your bag with old paper (not newspapers as they might stain over time), towels or cloth to keep them from deforming, cracking or creasing.
– It’s best you store them in a big box that is coated with fabric so you’d avoid any scratching.
– Make sure you keep the box away from sunlight to avoid possible effect on their colors and fabric from sun rays.
– You can also choose to store them in one section of your closet but also make sure you coat at least its bottom with fabric.
– Make sure they’re always zipped up so you’d avoid trapping dust inside.
– It is recommended that you store the ones you use often separately from the ones you use less often or for special / rare occasions.
