The pieces are all inspired by the icons influential persona and many of her individual jewellery items. Many of the words inscribed in the collection reflect on the Umm Kulthoum’s sublime music and cultural history in the region.

The diva has left an artistic legacy behind her and construed a dramatic imprint onto Egypts culture in the 20th century, often referred to as Egypts fourth pyramid. A humble country girl with a majestic voice that turned her into Egypts Lady and knighted her by the King, Umm Kulthum has been recognized for her strong patriotic and altruistic stances, dedicating many of her concerts to raising funds for Egypt during the time of war in the 1960s. Umm Kulthum was characterized by her pitch black hair, iconic diamond jewels, and signature chiffon handkerchief, the latter now kept at her museum in Cairo.

Umm Kalthum’s voice is not something you can describe or put in any form of words, no matter how hard one tries; she has a mystical effect that gets to your every cell almost. What Azza Fahmy did to revive that is absolutely beautiful and gives it quite a respectful and fascinating nod through intricate adornments of her most memorable songs.
