From the Upcoming Generation of Food Stylists
February 22, 2015Yes, food styling is a business, and it’s a very exciting one too. Egypt is witnessing a rise in the interest from new talents in this field, one of which is Naila Fateen. Mentored by one of Egypt’s pioneers in food styling – Hoda El Sherif – and supported by some of the prominent food photographers, Fateen has been dedicating a big chunk of her free time learning more and experimenting until she’s ready to take on clients.
Fateen has been investing in her own tools, ingredients, and props and is constantly adding more to her portfolio.
“One of the main reasons I got into food styling is sherif, my husband. I was first interested in food photography so he got me a bunch of food photography and styling books, and I fell in love with the styling part.. The beautiful thing about food styling is that you feed the eyes first. You’re actually creating an image of what that dish could possibly taste like,” Naila Fateen.
Here are just a selected few of her latest experimentations.
Look out for a bonus recipe for each of the above dishes in the next few days.
