Freshen Up your Carpet
November 25, 2013If your carpets aren’t smelling as fresh as you’d like them too, this is a simple trick that will deodorize your carpets and keep them smelling heavenly.
Mix about 10 drops of lavender oil with a few tablespoons of baking soda (you will find it as Sodium Bicarbonate at the grocery store) and sprinkle generously on the carpet. You can ditch the lavender and simply use baking soda if you just want to deodorize without adding any scents, or use the essential oil of your choice.
Leave for eight hours then vacuum and voila, your carpets are as good as new.
Editor’s tip: Add vinegar to the mix if you want to disinfect the carpet but test the vinegar on a small spot first to make sure it won’t be too harsh on your carpet.
