Reform Studio is everything we love in a business; it is founded by two young ladies who are interested in sustainable production that is environmentally friendly and creative. They have a touch of locale, and are “inspired by the authenticity of Egypt.”

Their work landed them last month the second place at Salone Satellite 2013 in Milano.

The two ladies, Hend Riad and Mariam Hazem, were the faces behind Re|Design for Humanity, and have gone on to spin off Reform Studio which makes beautiful pieces out of plastic bags, of which, they say one million single-use plastic bags are given out for free every minute and take thousand of years to degrade.

They translated this need to use plastic bags in a more environmentally-friendly manner into Plastex; an eco-friendly handmade fabric composed of 35% recycled cotton and 65% reused plastic bags that make the material strong, durable, water-resistant and strong enough to withstand sun, sand and dust.
