Spring/Summer 2013 Trends: Swimwear
April 23, 2013 | Yolla El SayedSummer is officially around the corner, even if the weather this week has been trying to convince us otherwise. If you’re one of those lucky ones going to the beach for the long weekends ahead, make sure you’re in trend as you hit the waves.
Swimsuits were getting a tad bit dull last season with very little novelty to offer, but designers have more than made up for it this season. We bring you the latest trends to keep you in vogue for the Spring break.
Editor’s Note: For where to find these trends in Egypt, check our Wardrobe section’s entry on swimsuits hunt in Egypt.
Greek Goddess
Nothing is sexier than those Greek knots and twists to bring a touch of grandeur to even a swimsuit. Although Greek Goddess is mainly about white and gold, we advise you to go with bright colors, as opposed to white which isn’t very water-friendly, and accentuate with gold accessories. Keep your colors solid and go with something that will reflect your tan; orange, coral and gold will do the trick.
Editor’s Tip: Greek design in tops, the likes of knots, drapes and twists, can also add volume to flatter shapes. Drapes in bottoms can, similarly, balance out fuller breasts or add curves to flatter bottoms.

You can also use prints to draw attention to an area and away from another, so if you feel you have a particularly toned lower body but aren’t as fond of your upper body, go ahead and keep that print to the bottom to draw attention away from your upper half.
Vintage glamour
Finally, the glamourous, feminine and overall amazingly sexy 1950’s pin-up girl swimsuits are back in fashion. These swimsuits are mainly about hig
Editor’s Tip: This trend is especially useful to show off fuller shapes and create the illusion of an hour-glass figure. Stir away, however, from cutesy cupcake and hearts prints and embrace the more modern prints or solid colors to add a kick to the vintage design, h-waisted bottoms with more modern tops, adding a little retro glamour to our modern lives.
Heavy prints
Bikinis and one-pieces are not normally items that women dare to incorporate unusual prints into. However, this season is all about unusual prints, push your limits and go with a landscape or an animal print on your bikini or one-piece this summer.
