Make a hearty breakfast
May 23, 2013Fridays are about family and a good time, so what’s better to start your weekend than a good hearty breakfast to gather the family around?
But what’s even better, is a recipe that you can make ahead on Thursday so you can sleep in on Friday and still make that hot, yum meal.
Ingredients
– 9 slices of bread torn into bite size pieces
– 1/2 cup diced mushrooms
– 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
-1/2 kilo shredded cheddar cheese
– 1/2 a chopped onion
– 2 cups cubed cold cuts (turkey, salami or roast beef)
– 8 eggs
– 2 cups milk
Instructions
– Grease a 23X33 centimeters baking dish
– Spread half the bread in the bottom
– Add the mushrooms and peppers
– Sprinkle half the cheese
– Layer the remaining half of the bread
– Add the onions and cold cuts
– Sprinkle remaining cheese
– Whisk eggs and milk and pour them over the pan
– Cover and let it sit in the fridge for 12 to 24 hours
– Preheat oven to 175 degrees celsius
– Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 35 minutes
– Remove foil and bake for an extra 15 minutes or until top is evenly brown.
