The Ultimate Guide to New Fitness Fads in Cairo

Working out was never trendier than it is today. And this is one fad we can actually get behind.

So to help you keep track of our ever-expanding fitness programs, we compiled the ultimate guide to fitness in Cairo, including interviews with instructors to tell us what to expect from each program, what fitness level is required and exactly what the workout is. This is a list of every new fitness program that popped up during the past few years, along with a full schedule of what’s going on where.

Jumping Fitness/ Trampoline

What is Trampoline?                                                                                                         

It’s a fun, high-intensity cardio session on a special trampoline

Highlights

  • Burns between 800-1,000 calories per hour
  • Cardio workout on music
  • Improves fitness level
  • Tones lower body

Who is it for?  

Jumping fitness is for all fitness levels; the class is set up in a gradual manner. Participants can also go at their own pace until they comfortably catch the beat.

Who is it not for?

  • We do not recommend this workout for people with back problems. They need to consult a doctor before engaging in heavy jumping.
  • Pregnant women also should refrain from using jumping fitness.

Why Jumping Fitness?                                                                                                

Fun would be an understatement. Jumping fitness is a music-based workout that really engages the participants and eliminates the traditional cardio boredom, its enjoyable and effective.

Pole Fit Egypt

What is Pole Fitness?

Pole Fitness is not just an effective form of exercise, but also a form of art. It combines gymnastics moves, dance style and strength holds to give the perfect full body workout.

Who it’s for:

If you are interested in Pole Fitness, then it is for you. This form of exercise is for everyone regardless of age, sex or weight. The nature of this sport allows people to start at any level and offers a new exciting way to workout.

Who it’s not for:

  • Pregnant women
  • Those suffering joint injuries or herniate discs.

Why Pole Fit:

Participants end up working out but not feeling like it has been an actual workout, because of how fun the sessions are.

Cheerobics

What is Jazzercize?                                                                                                                

Created by Judi Sheppard Misset in 1969, Jazzercize combines several workouts; including kickboxing, Pilates and hiphop, jazz and Latin dancing.

Highlights:

  • Dancing your way to fitness
  • Burning up to 600 calories a class
  • Full body workout
  • Toning
  • Includes optional weights for resistance training during the workout
  • Cardio training

Who it’s for:

My class could include the grandmother, the mother and the daughter at the same time: Each could be working according to her own fitness level [low or high impact] with the instructor’s assistance. The intensity is your call.

Who it’s not for:

Before doing any kind of sports, people with special medical considerations should get medical clearance.

Why Jazzercise?                                                                                                                     

Offers a wide range of different classes like Regular (basic class including cardio and toning), Body Sculpt/Strength 60 (toning), Strike (kickboxing), Fusion (interval), Cardio Core, and Express (30 min intense).

Zumba is for everyone from age 13 until you can’t move anymore, no matter what your fitness level is.

Launched in April 2014, it is based on Performance Enhancement Training, which has been designed for professional athletes worldwide. Training sessions limited to 10 per class to keep the experience personal.

Highlights:

  • Suitable for professional athletes across different sports to enhance performance, strength, mobility, movement and stability
  • Some classes 800 to 1,000 calories per session (The Jumping Fitness class)
  • Sessions limited to 10 participants to keep it personal
  • Sessions guided by two coaches
  • Programs are all one-month long and include 20, one-hour-long sessions.
  • Each program include customized nutrition and workout plan
  • Explosive Strength: The program’s objective is shredding and it includes strength training.
  • The Grind: The objective is weight loss through customized workouts and nutrition plans. Includes Calisthenics, Pylometrics, High Intensitve Interval Training and weights.

Who it’s for:

  • Programs range from beginner to advanced.
  • Two different programs are offered for different needs: Explosive Strength (for strength, bulking and toning and The Grind (fat burning program).

  • We ask our clients to list previous injuries and depending on that we direct them to the program that will help them best.

What is Cross Fit?                                                                                                             

A mix of different sports including gymnastics, weight lifting and other cardiovascular activities. It includes activities like sprinting, swimming, climbing ropes, weight-lifting and pull-ups. It mainly depends on functional movements that help you in everyday life like carrying your luggage in the airport.

Who it’s for:   

It’s for everyone; three-year-old kids or over 60-year-olds, regardless of fitness level. All the movements can be scaled to meet individual capabilities.

  • Pregnant women should avoid certain movements that would require abdominal impact
  • Those with heart problems should use a heart rate monitor and always keep track of the beats throughout the workout

As the Name indicates we train for aim, we set some goals and targets through out the year and we train our team to reach those goals, its mostly triathlons (it’s an endurance race consisting of swimming, cycling and running).

We also give people who cant join our training sessions free training programs to follow on their own to reach their targets.

The training sessions are 5 to 6 times a week to enhance performance and endurance.

Highlights:

  • Two academies for different goals: Fitness academy (holds sessions daily for cardio, circuit training and endurance) and the triathlon academy (for preparing for the triathlons through swimming, cycling and running)
  • Outdoor cycling and running open for everyone on weekends.
  • Multi-disciplinary routine including cycling, swimming, running, fitness and spinning.

Who it’s for:

  • All ages, genders and fitness levels can join, as we cater the programs according to each individual fitness level and targets.
  • It helps a lot people who need to train for certain races.

Who it’s not for:

  • We work with Revive Medical center to do check ups on our participants to see if they have any injuries or medical problems before joining so we can adapt the training accordingly or advise them not to train with us.
  • Its very difficult for pregnant women to join, we don’t recommend it and we don’t approve it.

Why Train for aim: 

You won’t be just working out for the sake of it; you will have an identified goal and task to reach. There is a finish line to cross. We are now leading the triathlons training and we are spreading to different governorates and countries (we now have people who follow our training programs in Alexandria, Saudi Arabia and Jordan).

I’M Possible

What is I’MPossible?

This is not a sport entity, its a holistic, one-on-one life coaching, personalized program for 90 days and it’s driven by the belief that to live a healthy lifestyle you need to focus on the whole equation of life: While workouts represent 30% of it, nutrition, lifestyle and follow-up represent 70%.

She can assess whether someone has certain medical conditions that would keep them for participating in the program.

Why I’MPossible:

We are not a mass entity and we will never be, we will never exceed the 30 people mark, its our own internal rule, this is because we as an entity have a very rigid follow up process installed within the program that allow us to focus with our clients on almost daily basis.

I’MPossible doesn’t have a schedule as they sign up clients based on personal bases, its not a class, its a one-on-one service.

HIT Egypt/High Intensity Training
