To Do: Make the perfect lemonade
May 7, 2014What’s summer without a cool, zesty lemonade jug to enjoy on the beach or in the pool? A refreshing lemonade drink adds a little kick to your summer holidays, so on your way to the beach this weekend, patch a nice, clear jug and make this perfect, fail-proof lemonade:
Note: The key to a good lemonade is to allow the sugar to completely dissolve, the syrup method allows this without the need for a blender.
Ingredients:
– 1 cup sugar
– 1 cup room-tempreature water
– 1 cup lemon juice (about 15 lemons)
– 4 cups cold water
– The leaves of 2-3 sprigs of fresh mint
– 1/2 small, green lemon (optional, if you have a blender handy)
Instructions:
– Heat the sugar in a small saucepan with the room-termperature water until the sugar dissolves
– Shred the mint leaves to small pieces or if you have a blender, throw the whole leaves in with the 1/2 green lemon
– Add the cold water and lemon juice to the water and sugar mixture
– Add the shredded mint
– Refrigerate for 30 minutes and serve cold with a mint leaf and a couple of lemon slices
