Recipe for Watermelon Granita
August 7, 2014 1Summer is upon us, so go ahead and make a nice, icy fruit treats for those hot summer days coming up:
– 1/2 cup sugar
– Juice of 2 lemons
– 1.5 kilograms of watermelon
– 1 cup water
Directions:
– Peel, deseed and chop the watermelon.
– Mix sugar and water in a pan and stir constantly, bringing the mixture to boil then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
– Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
– Put the watermelon and lemon juice in a food processor, mixing until smooth then pour in the sugar and water mixture and blend.
– Place the mixture in a metal pan and freeze for 30 minutes.
– Stir the mixture and return to freezer, repeating the procedure every 20 minutes.
– When all liquid is frozen, serve immediately.
